PROJECT: Steel Grain Silos
LOCATION: Turkey
COMPLETION DATE: February 1996
Steel silos, with a total storage capacity of 240,000 tons/year, were constructed at 17 different locations in Turkey by the Attila Dogan/Phoenix Rousies S.A. Consortium. Work comprised of basic design, detailed engineering procurement, fabrication, civil and installation work, as well as auxiliary facilities construction.
Work on the Kulla Port comprised of a quay 200 metres in length, with 10,000 ton capacity steel silo. The design principle of the facilities includes feeding and unloading grain from the vessel. In addition to the main facilities, the project included a quay, a pneumatic device (capacity of 300 tons/hr) for unloading grain from the vessel, and a quay-side conveyor (300 tons/hour capacity) for transfer of the grain. A quay was constructed with concrete blocks, 200 meters in length and draft water depth of 10 meters.
